Botanical Medicine has been used for thousands of years and has been shown to be very effective and safe when used appropriately.  On the other hand, allopathic (modern) medicine is relatively new, and has proven to be dangerous and not effective in promoting health.

Benefits of Botanical Medicine
There are many benefits of botanical medicine, some of these are:

Proven over time – As mentioned, it has been used for thousands of years in many cultures and people groups.  Herbs for medicine are even mentioned in the Bible.  Most of the traditional benefits of herbs have been passed down by word of mouth and some ancient manuscripts.

Works – Time tested medicine always proves to be effective because if it doesn’t work, over time, people no longer use it.

Safe – Herbal medicine has shown to be safe when used appropriately.

Easy to Obtain – Herbs are everywhere, and when we gain the knowledge of them, we can just pick our own medicine from nature.  Herbal products are also available in most stores.

Affordable – Most herbal products are much less expensive then their counterpart allopathic medicine.

Different Forms of Botanical Medicine
There are mainly 3 ways to use herbs: Powder, Tea, and Tinctures.

Powders – are the actual herbs ground to powder and then put in capsules or the powder is mixed in water and drunk.   The powdered herbs can keep for 1-3 years if kept in a cool dry place.

Teas – are herbs that are cut & sifted and steeped in water to form a beverage.  It is best to use herbs that taste good for teas.  The cut herbs can keep for 1-3 years if kept in a cool dry place.

Tinctures – are herbs that are brewed in alcohol for several weeks and then strained.  This is a concentrated herbal medicine and will keep for 5 years.
