Peppermint contains calcium, choline, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B3 and E. It is good for strengthening the heart muscle and the entire body. It is useful for pain and strengthens the nerves. It is good for dizziness and fainting as well as stomach pain. It is aromatic, stimulant (as a stimulant it is much better than coffee), stomachic, carminative (aides in dispelling gas), and rubefaceint (dilates capillaries and increases blood circulation). As a digestive aide, it aides in digestion as it increases stomach acidity. Going back to the idea of it being better than coffee, the reason for this statement is that coffee is hard on the nerves, hinders digestion, is a cause of constipation, and weakens the heart muscle. Pretty much everything opposite of peppermint. Why start your morning with coffee? It is the American way, but it is a habit worth breaking.
Caution: may interfere with iron absorption and therefore should not be used by pregnant or nursing women.
