A growing population is experiencing a range of subtle to serious symptoms, which they attribute to EMR, or “electrical sensitivity.” These reported symptoms include headaches, nausea, exhaustion, “burning” skin, dizziness, inability to concentrate, agitation, heart palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, tinnitus, chronic fatigue, joint pain, swelling of face and neck, eye problems, and rashes.

While it may be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of such symptoms, it’s important to take seriously the possible connection to EMR. Use of wireless technologies continues to increase with insufficient or no pre-market assessment to determine the health risks. From cell phones, tablets, Wifi, cordless phones, and smart devices, we are continually bombarded with EMR. However, there is a growing and substantial body of scientific evidence and research by independent, international scientists that associates EMR with serious health effects. I hope the information here will be helpful to you.

Brain Cancer and Cell PhonesWorld Health Organization (WHO), declared cell phones a Class B Carcinogen, meaning a “possible cancer-causing agent,” based on the available research. This places cell phones in the same category as diesel engine exhaust, some pesticides, and some heavy metals. The expert panel ruled that there was “some evidence” that regular cell phone use increased the risk of two types of tumors: brain tumors (gliomas) and acoustic neuromas. When you consider the fact that your body is bioelectric, it’s easier to understand how and why biological damage from wireless phones might occur.

For starters, your body uses electrons to communicate, and inside every cell are mitochondria, the “power plants” of the cell. These mitochondria can be adversely impacted by electromagnetic fields, resulting in cellular dysfunction. Other mechanisms of harm have also been discovered in recent years. [1]On Cellphone-Health, Senator Lynn Allison, states that in Europe and the UK there has been a 40% increase in brain tumors over the past 20 years. This is VERY significant!

In childrenAlarming new research indicates that children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer if they use cell phones. The study is raising fears that today’s young people may suffer an epidemic of the disease in later life. [2]

In the book, Cell Phones: Invisible Hazards in the Wireless Age by Dr. George Carlo and Martin Schram Dr. Carlo states, “Developing skulls of children are penetrated deeply by the energy emitted from a cell phone, that the blood brain barrier which prevents invasion of the brain by toxins can be compromised by the cell phone radiation, and most startling, that radio frequency radiation creates micronuclei in human blood cells, a type of genetic damage known to be a diagnostic marker for cancer.”

According to a cell phone-health interview, brain-cancer taken over from Leukemia as the biggest cause of death among children.

Swedish research reported at the first international conference on cell phones and health, came from further analysis of data from one of the biggest studies carried out on the cell phone/cancer link, headed by Professor Lennart Hardell. Professor Hardell reported that people who started mobile phone use before the age of 20 had more than a five-fold increase in glioma, a cancer of the glial cells that support the central nervous system.

Young cell phone users were also five times more likely to get acoustic neuromas, disabling tumors of the auditory nerve that often cause deafness. Those who begin using cell phones heavily before age 20 have four to five times more brain cancer by their late 20s, compared to those whose exposure is minimal.

It’s important to note that researchers are in general agreement that there’s a latency period of about 10 years or more before the damage shows up, which places children at greatest risk

As far as cell phones and EMR goes, many authorities view that prevention is better than taking risks. “If we wait for proof of harm, and that proof is brain cancer… What we know about brain cancer is this: it can take 40 years to develop. We know that from when the bombs fell toward the end of World War II – there was no increase in brain cancer at all until 40 years after. And we know that there is an increase in brain cancer from ionizing radiation associated with that bomb,” says Dr. Devra Davis, well respected researcher on the dangers of cell phones.

She goes on to say, “If brain cancers have 40-year latency in a population, and we wait for evidence . . . we will be in huge trouble. More importantly, we have evidence that cellphone radiation interferes with sperm production, sperm quality, and sperm vitality.” [3]

Common-Sense Guidelines

  • No cell phones for children. Until they are 20, children and teens should not use a cell phone or wireless device of any type except for an emergency.
  • Avoid carrying your cell phone on your body. In the manufacturer’s manual in fine print, it warns to avoid using or carrying your cell phone close to your head or body at any time. FOLLOW IT! Keep it in a purse or bag, and do not carry it in your pocket unless it is OFF
  • Keep your cell phone use to a minimum. Turn your cell phone off more often. Reserve it for emergencies or important matters.
  • Do not use more than one wireless device at one time, such as using your cell phone and tablet together.
  • Reduce or eliminate other wireless devices.
  • Limit cell phone use to areas with excellent reception. The weaker the reception, the more power your phone must use to transmit, and the more power it uses, the more radiation it emits.
  • Respect others. Some people are sensitive to EMR, so when in public, keep your cell phone turned off or on airplane mode. Children are especially more vulnerable, so avoid using your cell phone near children.
  • Wait for call connection, before placing the phone next to you. The phone emits the most intense radiation during the initial connection, then lowers its power once a connection is established.
  • Use speaker mode or a well-shielded wired headset. This will keep the cell phone away from your body.
  • Be careful what case you use. Many standard cases can weaken the cell phone’s signal, shorten battery life, or increase radiation emissions. Do not use any case unless it has been proven not to increase SAR or weaken your signal. One of the best that I have found is pong cases. www.pongcase.com
