Crush several cloves of garlic. Place in a small non-plastic bowl and add enough olive oil in it to cover the garlic pieces. Then place this in a pan with water in it. Set the pan on the stove and heat the water. (This will warm the oil without burning it. )

After the water starts to boil reduce the heat to simmer and leave on the stove for 30 minutes. You can then just turn the heat off and let the garlic and oil mix continue to sit in the hot water for another 30 minutes or longer. If you are not in a hurry, you can let it sit over-night to bring our more properties.

The last thing then is to strain the garlic from the oil. This can be done with a clean handkerchief or some cotton cloth. Pour into amber glass bottle and use as needed. It is always best to strain the oil when it is a little warm.
