Another herbal property that is important to know is alteratives.

Alteratives
Herbs that alter the state of the body or alter the course of an illness are called alteratives. Alteratives are more commonly known as blood purifiers because they help the circulatory system, among other bodily systems, and support the elimination of toxins in the blood.

Alteratives work on a deep level to improve the condition of the body. The effects are more gradual over time to help more chronic conditions such as infections, toxicity of the blood, arthritis, cancer, auto-immune conditions, and skin problems like eczema and psoriasis. They help the body return to a state of homeostasis and support the functions of the liver, spleen, kidneys, and bowels.

Alterative Herbs
There are many herbs that are considered alteratives. Some of them include red clover blossoms, echinacea, dandelion root, alfalfa, marshmallow root, burdock, licorice root, raspberry leaf, and white willow bark. Herbs have primary, secondary, and tertiary actions, so there are herbs that have alterative properties but this is not their primary action. Herbal side effects are often helpful, not harmful!

We sell alterative formulas at Herbs4You – our own Blood Cleansing Tincture, Immune Ease Tincture, Fever Tincture, and Blood Dirt Powder, and Dr. Christopher’s Blood Stream formula. Shop these products on our website here.
