About Neem
Neem is a tree native to India and Southeast Asia. Its botanical name is Azadirachta indica.  It is now grown worldwide for its medicinal and healing properties.  Neem has several properties, such as antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, insecticide, and anti-inflammatory.

Today, neem has much value for commercial use. Neem oil is used in bathing lotions, soaps, cosmetics and as an environment-friendly insect repellent as well.  Neem leaves are used in the treatment of eye problems, bleeding nose, intestinal worms, stomach problems, loss of appetite, and more.  It is also used for skin diseases, cardiovascular disease, hay fever, oral and liver problems. Neem is known to have anti-diabetic properties and may even increase insulin sensitivity. 

Common Uses

EXTERNAL USES

Ringworm – Neem powder has been found effective in treating ringworm as it has strong antifungal properties. For treating ringworm, mix neem powder with water. You can add a few drops of olive oil if your skin is dry. Apply this paste to the affected areas and rinse after 10-15 minutes with lukewarm water. Follow this process daily for few days to get noticeable results.

Head Lice – Lice are parasitic insects that live in human hair. They are contagious, and feed on small amount of human blood, which affects your health. Neem is said to inhibit the growth of lice. It also prevents the lice eggs from hatching. For lice, prepare a paste of neem powder and water. Apply it to your hair and rinse off after drying. You can use this method on alternate days 

Athlete’s Foot – is a common problem that is hard to get rid of.  Neem powder has been used effectively for this condition.  Just make a paste with neem powder and water and apply it to the affected area.  Do this regularly and you should see improvement.

Acne – A paste of neem powder and yoghurt applied to the face has been used for acne.  Allow it to dry and then wash off. Do this 2-3 times a week.

Neem leaf powder has also been used topically for eczema, psoriasis, hair loss, and insect bites.

INTERNAL USES

Detoxifies the Body – Neem is considered a “one-stop pharmacy shop” in that it basically does everything!   It helps rid the body of toxins as it stimulates the liver.

Improves Gastric Health – Neem is said to decrease inflammation within our digestive tract, addressing issues like ulcers, constipation, bloating, and cramping. Additionally, neem acts as a healing agent for certain GI infections, preserving the much-needed good bacteria.

Helps Control Diabetes – There is a connection between a lower demand for insulin in the body and the consumption of neem. Its chemical components optimize insulin receptor function and ensure that the body is receiving enough insulin. 

Fights Malaria – Neem not only wards off mesquitos, but also has active compounds that show promise in fighting malaria infected cells.
