Our pets are important to us, and the better we take care of them, the healthier they will be. This will reduce vet bills as well as the distress and work involved with a sick pet.

We have had several pets over the years and have learned what works and what does not work.  I have also had the opportunity to help customer’s pets and have had good results.  Here are some thoughts about Pet Health.

Quality Food

Food is the foundation for health even for our pets.  There are mainly two problems with commercial dog food.  These are:

  • What they are made from.
  • Kibble is highly processed which destroys the natural enzymes and some nutrients.

Health Rule 1: No GMO ingredients. This can be hard as most dog foods contain GMO corn and soy. Several years ago, we used to get regular cheap dog food for our dog, and eventually she got breast tumors. It is known that GMO foods cause massive tumor growth over time. Look for dog food that has few ingredients and the first is meat, such as chicken, lamb, or beef. Then rice, sweet potato, and other vegetables for filler and vitamins. Avoid corn and soy.

Health Rule 2:  Make sure your pet gets live enzymes.  Signs that a pet is not getting enough enzymes are:

  • eating poop as this contains live enzymes.
  • eating grass can be from an imbalance of the gut, which can be from a lack of enzymes or need for probiotics.
  • skin problems
  • bad breathe

Solutions:  Add some probiotics and enzymes to their diet, such as, raw apple cider vinegar, Kombucha, sauerkraut, or purchase some capsules and sprinkle it on their food

Health Rule 3:  Give your pet (cats & dogs) a parasite cleanse at least twice a year. Our pets pick up parasites, so helping them in this regard will avoid more serious problems.  Herbs4You parasite formula works well for both cats and dogs.  Just put some on their food and mix.   Another factor to consider is that WE pick up parasites from our pets, so we also should do a parasite cleanse twice a year.

Health Rule 4:  Be careful NOT to give your pet too many extra treats.  These include table scraps as well as dog or cat treats.  Being overweight is not good for our pets.

Health Rule 5:  Give your pet sufficient exercise.  Lack of exercise can lead to overweight problems, poor circulation, lethargy, and even depression.  Your dog or cat need exercise just as much as we do.

I trust this has been a help to you.  If you have any pet needs, please feel free to ask.
